Hi all. Hope you all enjoyed the holidays.

So, this is the first attempt at the Dragons Blood brew.

This time a year I couldn't really get my hands on speciality malts that turn a beer a nice red colour in time for today's brew, so the first attempt will use a small amount of black malt to adjust the pale colour down into (what I am hoping) will be a nice ruby red and give it a subtle roasted taste Very Happy

So..Dragons Blood mk1
3.2 kg British pale malt
60g black malt
180g dextrose sugar (to up the strength Smile)

30g Northern Brewer hops for bittering
6-8g Fuggles hops for flavour.

Pics will follow tomorrow when I can get Internet at work.

Here are the pics from yesterday's brew.

Grains ready: (it's not the entire bag, I just buy in bulk :p)
" />

Mash-in. Nice and easy with only 2 lots of grains. Once mashed in it will sit for 90 minutes in the tun.
" />

Mash over, next is the sparging (rinsing) of the grains.
" />

Prepare the hops ready for the boil. And make sure the most important bit is stocked up Very Happy
" />

Boiler on and wort (pre-beer) boiling away. Hops are added over the next 90 mins.
" />

I have got it fermenting now where it will stay for a few weeks. No pics of that bit yet but will get some up soon. Until later DB.

Its like you're trying to teach us how to get pissed Very Happy

This is also far more involved than any of the cider brewing I ever had a hand in.

It's something I've done for about 6 years now so have built up in complexity. There is certainly something satisfying about drinking what you make though.

Cider eh, I really fancy a go at making some myself ome day. Doesn't sound like I need to teach you much about drinking Wink
